Message from

Essex County Women's Bowling Association

In these trying times it is important to keep in touch, so I am sending this to you on behalf of the County Officers.  We have been unable to have our April Council Meeting and will not be able to meet together for the foreseeable future.  I am sure that all your bowling clubs are doing their best to reach out to you.  There are so many wonderful people out there, working hard in their sphere to help and support us all.  I know that we are all truly thankful.

Handbooks: Due to the restrictions on movement our plans to distribute these had to be abandoned.  Once the lockdown is lifted I can formulate a plan.

200 Club: Thank you to those who have supported the 200 Club this year.  2 draws will be made in October and November.

National Membership Register: Please complete the form with all ladies and gentlemen affiliated to your club and return to Tony Ellis, County Administrator by 7th May 2020.

Ann Sims, D Area Secretary has announced that she will be retiring from this post at the end of this season.  We thank Ann for all the work she has done on behalf of D Area. Nominations will be needed for this position, so D Area, please look for someone to take over this vital post.

Whilst mentioning vacant positions, I urge everyone to think deeply about filling those of County Treasurer and Junior Vice-President for 2021.  We have been given an unexpected little bit of breathing space this year, but we desperately need to have a full team of County Officers for next year.  I am able to give more details of what these posts entail if anyone interested would like to get in touch.  You will have had experience this year of what it is like to be without your bowling.  This is what will happen if we do not have the officers to run the County.  We need you and you need us.

Later in the season the following events will still be reviewed:

Intergroup Matches on 24th August, 7th September and 14th September 2020.

Essex Patron’s Day on 4th September 2020.

Possible re-scheduling of Benevolent Triples Day.

The Council Meeting on 7th October and E.C.W.B.A. Annual General Meeting on 11th November 2020.

Fees: Affiliation fees paid to Bowls England will be refunded via the Essex Bowling Association.  Stephen Hill will be facilitating this.  I will be refunding the fees paid for the competitions which have had to be cancelled.

Now A Message from your President:

Hello to all you lovely Bowlers of Essex. It is with great sadness that we have this pandemic, which is keeping us indoors and unable to enjoy the bowling that we love.  Hopefully we will be able to do a small amount at the end of August, with “fingers crossed.”  I trust that you are taking care to keep well and safe.  We will have all my Presidential events to enjoy next year.

With all Best Wishes to Everyone.

Your President Kim Wiggins.

Ladies, I sincerely hope that you are all managing this unprecedented situation well and with fortitude.  We know it is going to take time, but we will come through it.  I send all good wishes and cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to seeing you all again.

Take care and stay safe.

Jill Polley

Hon. Secretary Essex County Women’s Bowling Association and acting Treasurer.
